SYNOPSIS Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management and in a middling marriage—with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-struck millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life. Becky’s New Car is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken. Please Note: this play is being interpreted though a feminist lens so all characters will be cast with female actors. Women who are cast in male roles are expected to act as men.
CHARACTERS YET TO BE CAST CHRIS FOSTER (20 - mid 20s): Becky & Joe's son, psychology student and bit of a know-it-all. Doesn’t help around the home. Begins dating Kenni, gets engaged to her. KENNI FLOOD (20 - mid-twenties): Walter’s daughter. Self-confident, knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go for it. STEVE (early 50s – mid 60s): Becky’s co-worker, widowed. Used to being top-dog at work and isn’t happy when Becky is promoted over him. GINGER (mid 40s – 50s): Walter’s neighbour, single. Cares about Walter and thinks Becky is one of the best things which happens to him. Thanks to Becky is inspired to start life over.
