ARK Theatre is a Not-for-Profit Community Theatre Company, loosely based in the outer east suburbs of Narrm|Melbourne, Australia. ARK Theatre is dedicated to providing a friendly, and high-quality experience for both our members and our audiences. Our membership starts at 14 years of age (youthARK 14yrs-24yrs) and adults 18yrs plus. We have a low $10.00 annual membership fee and are members of the VDL Awards and Lyrebird Awards. ARK Theatre began in June 2013 following six months of establishing a collection of Mission/Vision/Value statements which collectively gave ARK Theatre a unique flavour and culture. Jimmy Dunne and partner Angela McCulloch had been to a few One Act Play Festivals and envisaged gathering like-minded local thespian friends to form a Theatre Group to perform at these festivals. And so began a remarkable 10+ year journey, where along the way, a performance arts centre was found, and ARK Theatre began incorporating full length plays and also forming youthARK Theatre to add to the repertoire. Not being satisfied, ARK Theatre started hosting a Ten Minute Short Play Festival in 2018. More recently, ARK Theatre are concentrating on the One ACT Play Festival Season, and are currently planning to host an Open Mic Festival in 2025. Next year ARK Theatre are hoping to host a One Act Play Festival as well. It is expected that all members are committed to the traditional community theatre spirit of a hands-on approach and encompassing various aspects of theatre production beyond just treading the boards! We are dedicated to and are guided by our Mission, Vision and Value Statements as well as our Code of Conduct/s. ARK Theatre is a Child-Wise|Child-Safe organisation.
