ARK Theatre will be performing two One Act Plays at several One Act Play Festivals in the latter part of 2024!
POINT BLANK by Grace McNiven | Director - Lisa McNiven
Cast:
William - Jason Triggs
Billy - James Banger
Voice - Jimmy Dunne
Synopsis: A WWI veteran on the brink of death, seeks absolution for his regrets
and traumatic experiences during the war. His hallucinations appear unexpectedly. Will they help him find the absolution he wants? Time will tell...
Playwright notes:
"I wrote this one-act play, at first, as part of a creative project for one of my classes at University. I received a High Distinction for it. Billy Sing is a real-life digger, and I was inspired to create a play about him when I saw one of the episodes on Channel 7's 'Australia: The Story of Us' which focused primarily on Australia during World War One. I then followed up with some serious research on him and the event that he was involved in during that episode.
During the process of the project, I received some valuable assistance from Chris Hodson another playwriter, who gave some advice for things like Aussie Slang back in the 1910s etc. During COVID-19.
I then signed up for one of Michael Olsen's play writing workshops with Eltham Little Theatre, and with his assistance, I heavily edited my play and came up with what you're about to see.
I hope you enjoy this play." - Grace
Performances:
FAMDA OAPF Foster - Sunday 27th August at 10.30am
SOAP Seymour - Saturday 14th September between 4.00pm and 8.00pm

Will Paul eventually get to watch any of the match he was so keen to see?!
Playwright notes:
Sue Ashby has been floating around the community theatre scene forever! Her love of writing began many moons ago.
For Old Times Sake was first presented at the 1812 Theatre as part of a Fundraiser for the local Fire Brigade, following the 2013 bushfires in NSW.
Sue subsequently rewrote parts of the script adding in the role of Dianna.
This revised script was then used as an entry into the 2022 OAPF season with favourable adjudication, receiving multiple nominations and awards!
Sue hopes you enjoy this play which is essentially a love story - with a slight twist!!
